Gurdit Singh (@gurdit) is a career Foreign Service Officer at the United States Department of State. He recently served as the Assistant Public Affairs Officer at the U.S. Consulate General in Hyderabad, India. Immediately prior to that assignment, he served as Chief of Non-Immigrant Visas and American Citizen Services, on a rotating basis, at the U.S. Embassy in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. Before joining the U.S. Department of State, Gurdit served as Resident Director of a study abroad program for American college students in Hyderabad under the auspices of the Council on International Educational Exchange.
Gurdit is originally from Kansas City (by way of New Delhi). He holds an undergraduate degree in political science and religious studies from the University of Kansas and graduate degrees in comparative religion and sociology from Harvard University and the University of California, Santa Barbara, respectively. He is the primary co-author of Introduction to Punjabi: Grammar, Conversation, and Literature (Patiala: Punjabi University Press, 2011).
