Ep70 - 12 Gurus Series: Guru Ramdas Sahib | The Sikh Cast
Monday Apr 30, 2018
Monday Apr 30, 2018
What is the significance of Gurus? Though all of us know them, their exact contributions are not known by many Sikhs.
In a new podcast series, The 12 Gurus: From 1469 to Infinity, SikhRI sheds light on their lives and contributions.
Were they spiritualists and reformers or Divine and Revolutionaries?
What lessons can we draw from them?
How do they teach us to think?
The series introduces Gurus as masters of fine arts, builders of cities, deliverers of justice, seva (service) coordinators, and an overarching gateway to freedom and equality. It touches on the singular and harmonized jot-jugat (light-method) as well as varied and diverse physical and temporal forms to provide a holistic understanding of the Gurus’ fundamental nature.
In this episode, we dive into the world of Guru Ramdas Sahib, who continues Guru Nanak Sahib’s mission:
From Bhai Jetha to Guru Ramdas Sahib
Sold boiled gram flour at Basarke
Response to Siri Chand
Musical revolution – the invention of Partal
Founded Amritsar/Chak Ramdas/Ramdaspur

Sabad is Infinite; we are very finite. This is our understanding at the moment, which was different yesterday and may evolve tomorrow, as we deepen our relationship with the Sabad. In this trans-creation, we have chosen to keep the repeating words in the Sabad same. We aspire to learn and retain the Divine attribute as used in the original Sabad and avoid terms like God or Lord.

One who calls oneself a Sikh of the Guru, the Eternal Guru, rises at dawn, contemplates on All-Pervasive Nam1.
Endeavors daily at dawn:cleanses and bathes in the pool of Immortality.
Follows Guru’s Instructions, utters the utterance of All-Pervasive! All-Pervasive!Pains from all evilish transgressions vanish.
Then, at daybreak, sings Guru’s Teachings, contemplates on All-Pervasive Nam while sitting or standing.
One who contemplates with every breath on my All-Pervasive! All-Pervasive!That Sikh of the Guru pleases the Guru’s mind.
Whosoever feels my Owner-Divine’s compassion, the Guru imparts instructions to that Sikh of the Guru.
Servant Nanak asks for that Sikh of the Guru’s Feet-dust2who personally utters and inspires others to utter Nam.
